Sun Trust Bank Maliciously Cancels Account, Keeps the Money Defrauding Customer & Doesn’t Adequately Inform Customer – Sun Trust Rico Violations

Dear Federal Reserve Inspector General Elizabeth Coleman,

I am writing this letter to urgently request a thorough investigation of the practices of Sun Trust Bank, which has recently maliciously cancelled my bank account because I filed a complaint with the Federal Reserve.

Even worse than cancelling my account, Sun Trust bank cancelled my account and kept the few hundred dollars (positive balance) I had within that account and did NOT send me a check when they sent their letter of cancellation. Moreover Sun Trust Bank did not adequately forewarn me that they were cancelling my account, but sent me a letter which I received Friday evening after returning home from work. Therefore I and my family were without money all weekend (as Sun Trust Bank knows since my transaction records reveal I use my check card for all purchases).

Incidentally therefore I rarely carry cash with me. Moreover because I am a school teacher and only get paid once a month, at the end of the month, which is currently set up for automatic deposit at Sun Trust Bank, I will now not be able to sustain my family for the remainder of the month of April, nor May (as the county school board shall now hold my paycheck until the end of May). Today when I went to the Aveda Salon for my first haircut (free), I was unable to tip the young lady named Amy who cut my hair (today being her birthday) because Sun Trust Bank cancelled my account without forewarning and when they sent the letter of cancellation timed it perfectly to arrive at the end of the week to inflict the most harm (knowing that customers they are terminating will be less likely to prepare for the inconvenience and financial difficulty).

The maliciousness and intent to harm its customers who file complaints with the Federal Reserve to evaluate consumer complaints should not be tolerated by the Federal Reserve. I urge you to commence a thorough investigation of Sun Trust Bank cancelled accounts to thoroughly evaluate the motivations for cancelling customers accounts with a positive balance.

I am currently preparing a PR campaign and consumer advocacy initiative to forewarn consumers and gather all disgruntled and maliciously mistreated customers of Sun Trust Bank across the nation to join in a class action lawsuit.

Honorable Inspector General Coleman, for your name sake, the integrity of the Federal Reserve, and to uphold the consumer rights of the American people I urge you to at your earliest convenience to commence a full fledged investigation of Sun Trust Bank for cancelled accounts of customers with a positive balance.

No bank governed and regulated by the Federal Reserve should be able to maliciously with the intent to inflict pain and suffering upon customers for inquiries to the Federal Reserve concerning bank practices, be permitted to cancel customer accounts because they do not want Federal Reserve scrutiny and oversight.

Given federal RICO laws permit punitive damages to be assessed upon banks and companies seeking to silence and harm whistleblowers, I again urge you to at your earliest convenience launch a full fledged investigation as to the motivations of Sun Trust Bank for cancelling customers accounts with a positive balance.

I simply requested the Federal Reserve in February of this year investigate why Sun Trust Bank was allowed to charge me $170 for a few small overdrafts on a my Sun Trust check card (which they informed me when I opened the account would not work when there weren’t sufficient funds in the account), when I within 5 days replenished my Sun Trust account with a $2,600 deposit.

Obviously, Sun Trust Bank is blatantly trying to punish and harm me for filing this matter with the Federal Reserve and seeking your wise oversight. Now to make matters a hundred times worse, Sun Trust Bank has now cancelled my account without forewarning causing my family great personal inconvenience, harm, and pain leaving us without access to hundreds of dollars in our bank account and no way to receive my school teacher paycheck at the end of the month of April.

My salary sustains my family and Sun Trust Bank is well aware of its malicious behavior intended to inflict as much pain and suffering as possible. Moreover my monthly payments from ExpoTV set up on paypal have also been deposited into my Sun Trust Bank account, which I also have been unable to access and withdraw.

I kindly urge you to please act on my and other defrauded consumers behalf so we can get our personal checking account monies returned to us, which Sun Trust Bank has been keeping upon closing our accounts without forewarning.
