Coaches Success Secrets – Inspiring Coaches to Make Champions & Build Winning Teams

I’d be delighted to inspire and empower your coaches, assistants and parents at the annual Coaches Clinic. Truly the world is a better place because of coaches!

Hall-of-Fame runnng back Tony Dorsett (Dallas Cowboys) said: “To succeed, you need to find something to hold on to, something to motivate you, something to inspire you.”

Coaches often are the ones that grip the hearts of their players, inspiring, and motivating them to achieve greatness.

Football great and former Chicago Bears coach Mike Ditka said: “Before you can win, you have to believe you are worthy.”

Coaches affirm players’ personhood, awaking and affirming their hearts causing them to know they are worthy and champions within; after which they arise to live up to their coach’s expectations on the field.

Legendary coach Vince Lombardi said, “Coaches who can outline plays on a black board are a dime a dozen. The ones who win get inside their players and motivate.”

This precisely is where coaches begin their art – getting inside of and motivating their players.

As a worldwide motivational speaker, life coach & NLP master practitioner I’ve got the word power to empower your coaches to inspire their players to achieve greatness on and off the field.

As Lombardi said, “Confidence is contagious. So is lack of confidence.” Here often is where coaches fall short and demoralize their players and team. How often coaches fail before they even begin by reason of their unharnessed emotions and inward discouragement communicated nonverbally before they ever begin to speak. Coaches must carry and continually deposit within their players the spirit of faith – to believe in themselves individually and the team collectively. Without the fire of faith and enthusiam burning within their players’ hearts, the life force within will not flow forth physically and athletically when the players step foot on the field.

Vince Lombardi said, “Teamwork is what the Green Bay Packers were all about. They didn’t do it for individual glory. They did it because they loved one another.”

When I hear this I’m reminded of what legendary FSU college football coach Bobby Bowden said during an interview about what made him a winning coach, “I teach my players to love one another. If I can just get them to love one another they will block for one another and win football games.”

At first I thought mentioning “love” was a bit awkward when it comes to coaching, but upon further evaluation of the game of football I now understand what Lombardi and Bowden are talking about. Essentially football (as said by Lombardi himself) is simply two things: tackling and blocking.

A coach therefore must build confidence, but simultaneously crucify the ego within individuals that might thwart the team effort.

As a coach Lombardi said, “The leader can never close the gap between himself and the group. If he does, he is no longer what he must be. He must walk a tightrope between the consent he must win and the control he must exert.”

Navigating through this tightrope as a coach takes an awakened intuition and gutt instincts. You have to know your players inside and out – being able to speak an encouraging word when a player is demoralized to awaken the champion within and simultaneously chastise players when they begin to slack and hold back in practice.

Perfecting each player to a place of peak performance in practice, a coach can then wholeheartedly march on to the gridiron on game day knowing his team has worked their hearts out beforehand to give their all on the field in pursuit of victory.

The coach however who is doubleminded and wayward in heart, will remain incongruent within and therefore crippled, unable to motivate and inspire his team with enthusiasm to believe in themselves and win. A coach therefore must be a fireman, an arsonist able to light the flame within the hearts of his players, assistant coaches and team!

Losing can never be considered, verbalized, nor permitted in one’s vocabulary inwardly or outwardly. Should the score reflect otherwise at the end of the game, you must still never admit a loss, only that time ran out.

By harnessing and rallying individual commitment to a group effort, any coach can make a team work and magnificently cause his dream to work wonderfully on the field, within a company, and in his or her community.

Since leaders are made and not born, coaches must have the vision, insight, words, and heartfelt tenacity to inspire greatness within his players to rise up, break the barriers, and fullfill their utmost potential.

As Hall-of-Fame coach Tom Landry (Dallas Cowboys) said, “When you want to win a game, you have to teach. When you lose a game, you have to learn.”

Coaches therefore birth life, faith, and hope within their players while revisiting them repeatedly to do so again and instruct them furthermore en route to perfection to become an unstoppable force and team!
